Somatic care rooted in connection.

We are a San Francisco nonprofit specializing in body-based, trauma-informed therapy that supports the nervous system, reconnects you with your body, and creates pathways toward greater safety, self-trust, and aliveness.

A place to be met with care

Shared anchor

Through focusing on co-regulation and mutual trust, we build a foundation of connection that allows your system to settle and expand.

Body-based healing

We work with finding ease in the body through orienting, sensations, boundaries, and nervous system support.

Community care

We are a nonprofit that strives to keep doors open to those who have been underserved, excluded, or harmed by traditional mental health systems.

A community based approach

In somatic therapy, it is often believed meaningful change happens not only through insight, but also through the body, relationships, and the nervous system. Our work supports people in reconnecting to their bodies and internal sense of ease and cultivating greater regulation, agency, and connection in their lives.

A Clinic and Training Center for Somatic Psychology

Alongside our clinical services, we are building a center for clinician training and professional development, with a particular emphasis on somatic group work methodologies. We aim to strengthen ethical, relational, and body-based approaches to care while expanding access to high-quality somatic therapy throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Common questions

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy supports mind-body integration in psychotherapy. This often looks like starting off by finding ease in the body first while focusing on co-regulation, then gently getting curious about sensations, nervous system patterns, and the ways emotions live in the body. It can be especially helpful for trauma, depression, anxiety, shame, and chronic stress.

Ready to begin?

The next step is a brief consultation to explore fit, answer questions, and get a sense of what support may feel most helpful.

Bay Area Somatic Therapy operates on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone peoples, the original stewards of the San Francisco Peninsula. We come to this work knowing we are not the first. Communities of color, Indigenous peoples, and traditional healers have always known that the body holds memory, grief, and reclamation.
